RDIF: Bahrain becomes 24th country to approve Sputnik V

MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain has registered Russia’s Sputnik V anti-coronavirus vaccine through an accelerated procedure, becoming the 24th country to register the vaccine, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said in a statement on Wednesday.

“RDIF announces registration of the Russian anti-coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V by the National Health Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Registration was done under the emergency use authorization without additional clinical trials in the territory of the country,” the fund said.

“The NHRA decision to approve Sputnik V will allow the country to protect its people using a safe and efficient vaccine. Teaming up is key in defeating the pandemic. We are ready to help our partners and provide the anti-coronavirus vaccine that is one of the best in the world,” RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriev said as quoted by the fund.

The Bahrain News Agency reported that country approved the use of the Sputnik V vaccine in emergency cases along with the Pfizer vaccine.
